QED were originally appointed circa 1999 to prepare a condition survey of the original buildings and infrastructure on the park, which at the time had recently been acquired by Norwich Union (Aviva). Since this appointment QED have been involved in the majority of the new build, refurbishment and infrastructure projects:

  • The Nucleus: 21,1002ft Central Facilities building containing commercial kitchen, dining area, bar, meeting rooms, gym and security “bunker”. QED Role: detailed design of all M&E services.
  • Science Village: 34,8002ft low energy laboratories & write up, consisting of 16No. fully fitted out, self-contained suites. QED Role: detailed design of all M&E services.
  • Pembroke Building (Plot 400): 15,0002ft fully air conditioned office building. QED Role: detailed design of all M&E services.
  • Gonville Building (Plot 200): 41,5002ft Building split 50/50 Laboratories and write up. QED Role: Shell and Core design together with space planning for laboratory.
  • Emmanuel Building (Plot 300): 41,8502ft Laboratory building. QED Role: Shell and Core design together with space planning for laboratory.
  • Darwin Building (Plot 900): 24,0002ft Laboratory building. QED Role: Shell and Core design together with space planning for laboratory.
  • The Mansion House (Building 1): 13,9002ft 19th Century mansion house refurbished to provide 12 serviced office suites. QED Role: detailed design of all M&E services.
  • Magdalene Building (Building 50): 18,6002ft Laboratory. Refurbishment of existing laboratory building with replacement of services. QED Role: detailed design of all M&E services.
  • Suites 3, 5, 6, 9 &14 Science Village: tenant fit out of 5 No. suites to provide enhanced laboratory spaces including the provision of an ISO Category 7 clean room. QED Role: detailed design of all M&E services.
  • St Edmunds (Building 52): 10,2002ft Laboratory. Change of use/extension of existing engineering workshops to laboratory & write up. QED Role: detailed design of all M&E services.
  • Building 17 & 18: refurbishment of the existing labs and write up spaces. QED Role: detailed design of all M&E services.
  • Park Drive South: a new 550m roadway complete with all infrastructure to allow for the development of 7No. Laboratory buildings. New buried services included Gas, Water, Fire Water, HV, LV, BT, Private Comms and security. QED Role: detailed design of all M&E services.
  • Access road and roundabout: Diversion of the existing B184, construction of a new roundabout and widening of the existing 900m entrance roadway. Buried services provided included HV, LV, BT, Private Comms and Security. QED Role: detailed design of all M&E services.
  • Private Borehole water supply: re-commissioning of the parks private water supply including the duty standby abstraction boreholes, water treatment, storage, pumping and distribution systems. QED Role: technical assistance during the re-commissioning.
  • Building 101 Energy Centre: a new build, standalone generator/switch building providing backup up supplies to critical buildings and services on the park. Backed up buildings/services include The Nucleus, Park Security Systems, Private water supply (Borehole abstraction, treatment and water supply plant). QED Role: detailed design of all M&E services.
  • Security Lodge: New build security lodge including replication of CCTV feeds and installation of new ANPR barrier system. QED Role: detailed design of all M&E services.
  • Building 60 Energy Centre: New build steam boiler house serving 34,0002ft laboratory. QED Role: detailed design of all M&E services.
  • Building 50 Energy Centre: New build LTHW boiler house serving 18,6002ft laboratory. QED Role: detailed design of all M&E services.
  • High Voltage infrastructure: new 8MVA public supply to serve the park to provide capacity for expansion and the ability to de-commission the existing private HV network. QED Role: detailed design and negotiations with statutory authorities.
  • Sentrax perimeter Security system: modifications and extensions to the above/below ground perimeter security systems surrounding the park. QED Role: detailed design.
