Our Services.
From conception to operation, QED’s wide range of expertise will provide an invaluable asset throughout a building’s lifecycle. Our professional team can deliver flexible solutions to suit a range of client requirements, from aesthetics to functionality, within agreed budgets and timescales.
Knowledge Spanning a Wide Range of Sectors.
As a company who works closely and constructively with other members of the team, QED recognises the benefits the use of 3D Building Information Modelling (BIM) brings to building services design, from 3D visualisation to accurate co-ordination with other disciplines.
The team at QED have extensive knowledge in the use of 3D BIM, but appreciate the advantages of other design tools, whether these be software design tools or bespoke in-house design tools to accommodate the project specific requirements. The design software regularly used at QED includes; Revit, IES, AutoCAD, Dialux, Cymap, and Amtech.
QED is predominantly responsible for the production of detailed design information for MEP services in both traditional and D&B contracts for developers and contractors, compromising the formulation of design drawings, engineering specifications and equipment schedules. QED also have vast experience in performing the following tasks:
- Feasibility Studies
- Dynamic Simulation Modelling
- Building Information Modelling
- Cost Control Analysis
- Condition Surveys
- Site Surveys
- Commissioning and Handover Support
- Facilities Management Support
Mechanical Engineering.
Mechanical services systems most prevalent use is to provide a comfortable internal environment for building occupants, via heating, cooling and ventilation systems. In other specialist applications, mechanical systems are also used to remove harmful pollutants, provide cleanroom/sterile environments, and enable the operation of critical equipment to ensure that operations can be performed safely and effectively.
Electrical Engineering.
Electrical services core function is to provide lighting, power and communications to a building to enable the users to effectively and safely occupy the building. In specialist applications, electrical services can also provide backup power supplies, feature lighting and security systems to support the building occupier. Electrical building services also support/enable the operation of mechanical and public health services within buildings.
Public Health.
As the name suggests, public health systems are provided to ensure the health of the building occupants and the public can be maintained and cared for. This includes providing the necessary sanitary facilities and hot and cold water services for building occupants, to supporting patients with specialist medical gases in healthcare facilities. Public health systems also include the provision of specialist laboratory gases for use in scientific research/laboratory facilities.
Energy & Sustainable Design.
Sustainable design and minimising energy usage are fundamental to reducing our impact on the environment and ensuring the welfare of future generations. Assessing the building physics using dynamic simulation models enables the optimum servicing strategies of a building to be determined to reduce energy usage and carbon emissions. The use of renewable technologies, such as photovoltaics, must also be evaluated to assess practicality.
Utilities Consultancy.
To facilitate the operation of building services systems within a building, buildings require connection to the wider national and global infrastructure network to provide clean water, power, fuel, and communications systems. With the process of obtaining a connection often causing project delays, it is essential that experienced engineers start discussions from project feasibility to ensure effective procurement.
3D Capture, Digital Twins & 360° Surveys.
The digitalisation of the construction industry presents many opportunities for increasing the efficiency and saving time in the construction, maintenance and management of buildings. The technology provides intuitive navigation and monitoring of projects through various stages, whilst enabling time and cost savings by allowing multiple disciplines to navigate a model surveyed during a single visit.
A People First Company.
Here at QED Engineering, we believe that people and the relationships we share between each other are the quintessential foundation of any business, and strive to do business with a people-over-profit attitude.
